Oakland A’s trade Sam Moll to the Cincinnati Reds

The Oakland Athletics and Cincinnati Reds are swapping pitchers. Left-handed pitcher Sam Moll has been traded to the Reds for right-handed pitcher Joe Boyle.
The A’s also sent Cincinnati international pool money, the team announced.

The 23-year-old Boyle was selected by the Reds in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB Draft. In 19 starts for Cincinnati’s Double-A affiliate, the Chattanooga Lookouts, Boyle is 6-5 with a 4.50 ERA.
Cincinnati’s 28th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.com, Boyle is 9-11 with a 3.48 ERA and 316 strikeouts in three professional seasons.

Sam Moll leaves Oakland after four seasons with the organization. He first joined the team after being traded to the A’s from the Colorado Rockies in August 2017. He made his major league debut in September before being designated for assignment after the season concluded.
He rejoined the Athletics after another trade in 2021. Since then, he’s racked up a 4.13 ERA over 117 games.
