There will be no more Mount Fuji eruptions in Oakland. The Oakland A’s announced on Wednesday they have traded pitcher Shintaro Fujinami to the Baltimore Orioles for left-handed pitcher Easton Lucas.
Fujinami was signed this past offseason to a one-year deal. The 28-year-old pitcher joined Oakland after 10 seasons with the Hanshin Tigers where he amassed a 57-54 record with a 3.41 ERA.
Shintaro Fujinami pitched in 34 games with the A’s accruing a 5-8 record with a 8.57 ERA. Mount Fuji began the year as a starter for the Athletics before being moved into a reliever role.

Who is Easton Lucas?
A California native, Lucas was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 14th round of the 2019 Draft. He was traded later that year to the Orioles for second baseman Jonathan Villar. In 93 minor league games, the 26-year-old pitcher is 8-4 with three saves and an ERA of just under four.
“Lucas has split his season between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk and is a combined 1-0 with a save and a 2.93 ERA in 21 relief appearances,” the Oakland A’s said in their press release. “He has held the opposition to a .174 batting average and has walked 13 while striking out 38 in 30.2 innings.”
