The Oakland A’s continue to make moves as the regular season approaches. Today, the East Bay franchise signed all-star catcher Jonathan Lucroy to a one year deal. The salary has not yet been disclosed.

Lucroy, 32, is a two-time MLB All-Star and is rebounding from an up and down 2017 season. He began the year with the Texas Rangers, batting .242 with four home runs and 27 RBIs in 77 games. He was then traded to the Colorado Rockies where he enjoyed a good finishing stretch to the season, batting .310 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 46 games.

Expected to be the everyday catcher for the A’s, Lucroy will join Oakland for the final few weeks of spring training, where he will watch the battle between Bruce Maxwell and Josh Phegley for the rotation catcher spot on the 25-man roster.

Maxwell is currently batting .231 with three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs in six games this spring.

Also in six games, Phegley is batting .333 with a triple, home run, and one RBI.
