The Oakland Raiders are re-signing TE Lee Smith, reports say.

Tom Pelissero tweeted the news out on Wednesday morning. Smith, who was originally signed before the 2015 season, took a pay cut last year to remain with the Raiders.

According to NBC Sports, Gruden and the Raiders signed free agent Derek Carrier on Tuesday, but not to replace Smith. He has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract worth $7 million. Head coach Gruden said

“You need a blocking tight end if you’re going to slam the ball with a beast.”

The Raiders have also re-signed defensive tackle Justin Ellis.
