The Oakland Athletics’ top-five prospect Dustin Fowler had quite the day inside the batters box for Triple-A Nashville yesterday.

Three hits; a two-run homer, a triple, and a double, and three runs scored for the 23-year-old center fielder in Nashville’s 7-2 victory over the New Orleans Baby Cakes. Fowler has been swinging a hot bat as of late, batting .357 (10 for 28) with five RBIs and seven runs scored over his last six games.

On the season, Fowler is batting .283 with two homers, 11 RBIs, and five stolen bases in 22 games.

“I’m getting my timing back and rhythm back, feeling comfortable at the plate, more aggressive at the plate,” Fowler told the Nashville media. “Rather than tracking pitches, I’m staying through the ball like last year and my power is starting to come back.”

The Oakland A’s acquired Fowler in the Sonny Gray trade to the New York Yankees last season. Fowler injured his knee when he crashed into an electrical box during his Major League debut on June 30th. He claims that he is back to 100% and that the injury is no longer an issue.

This spring, Fowler batted .222 with 10 hits, five RBIs and 13 strike outs in 45 at-bats in Mesa, Arizona. The A’s are optimistic that he can be their future center fielder, a position currently held by Mark Canha.
