The Oakland Athletics have recently doubled down on their “Rooted In Oakland” slogan, which came into being last season after the announced relocation of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas. After last year’s ballpark upgrades like the gigantic LED screens and removal of the upper level tarps, A’s President Dave Kaval and the organization recently made an offer to fans that cannot be refused.

This upcoming 2018 season marks 50 years that the A’s have been in Oakland. To celebrate that milestone, and reward the loyalty of their fan base, the A’s have made all tickets to their home game against the Chicago White Sox on April 17th free.

“We are extremely excited to offer this gift to the city as we celebrate 50 years in Oakland,” said Kaval, “The entire 2018 season will be a celebration of the A’s rich history, and offering the first free MLB game is another unique way for us to celebrate our team and wonderful fans.”

Parking too will be completely free for that game, as it is for every Tuesday home game throughout the season. So the only cost to fans will be concessions or souvenirs at the game itself.

Fans who are interested in attending the celebration game can sign up on the Oakland A’s website starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday January 10th.
