Petit had a solid 2019 season that saw him finish with 2.71 ERA over 80 games
Off-season moves have begun.
The Oakland Athletics made their first move of the off-season on Thursday afternoon when they picked up reliever Yusmeiro Petit’s club option for the 2020 season.
In addition to picking up Petit’s option, they declined their 2020 club option on left-handed reliever Jake Diekman.
Petit, 34, went 5-3 with a career-low 2.71 ERA over 80 games during the 2019 season. His 80 appearances led all American League relievers in games pitched, and he only walked 10 batters over 83 innings of work.
Diekman, acquired during the July trade deadline, went 1-7 with a 4.65 ERA over 76 games.
