Keith Pompey, Philadelphia 76ers beat writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer, joined Whitey & Watkins to talk about all the drama that’s surrounded the team this offseason.

From James Harden requesting a trade to Joel Embiid saying he doesn’t know where he’ll win a championship, there are plenty of questions about how long we’ll see this version of the 76ers.

“It’s get out of the second round or bust for this team, this is something they haven’t done. Everbody says they want to win a championship, but if this Sixers [team] don’t get to the Eastern Conference Finals, this season is a failure for them,” Pompey told Whitey & Watkins.

Additional 76ers topics discussed include

  • Why would a player ask for a trade request after opting into their contract?
  • Were the Philadelphia 76ers blindsided by what center Joel Embiid recently said? In an interview with Maverick Carter, Embiid said, “I just want to win a championship—um, you know, whatever it takes. I don’t know where that’s going to be, whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else.”
  • Could Tyrese Maxey be the number two to Embiid’s number one?
  • Should the 76ers have brought back Jimmy Butler and JJ Reddick after the 2018-19 season?
  • Will new coach Nick Nurse be able to help Embiid and the 76ers?
  • After poaching fan-favorite Bobby Jackson from the Stockton Kings, who else has filled out Nurse’s bench?
