The Las Vegas Raiders claimed former Arizona Cardinals cornerback Javelin Guidry on Monday, according to his agents.

The Raiders and Cardinals face off on Sunday at 1:25 p.m. MST, as both teams look to get back to .500 after an opening loss.

Guidry didn’t play a game in his brief Cardinals career but is known for his speed. In 2020, The 5-foot-9, 191-pound cornerback ran a 4.29-second 40-yard dash.

The Cardinals claimed Guidry before Week 1 to address a cornerback depth issue of their own. Guidry provided insurance had another cornerback gotten injured last week. However, he was released Saturday before the game.

The team was already without Antonio Hamilton (burns) and recently-acquired Trayvon Mullen (toe).

Despite both being unavailable for Week 1, Guidry was released before the game.

Despite not forcing any turnovers in his first 28 NFL games, Guidry had four forced fumbles in 2020. He also had three passes defended last year, along with one tackle for loss and quarterback hit apiece.

He joins an 0-1 Raiders team that got gashed through the air by Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert on Sunday. They also lost cornerback Anthony Averett and safety Tre’von Moehrig, further providing question marks to a secondary that Pro Football Focus ranked 29th before the season began.

That PFF ranking also includes Mullen, who the Raiders traded to the Cardinals on Aug. 30.

To address these issues, they claimed Guidry and signed Nickell Robey-Coleman Monday.
