It began with a passive-aggressive Instagram post after being fined for missing multiple mandatory practices and meetings. Then, it became a shouting match inside the general manager’s office. Now, after facing certain suspension from the Oakland Raiders, star receiver Antonio Brown will be suiting up for the Silver & Black in their season debut on Monday night.
Friday, Brown reportedly issued an emotional apology to the Raiders, including general manager Mike Mayock, with support from the team captains.
Brown was facing not only suspension, but the possible loss of his $30 million guaranteed contract. So it’s easy to guess what the real motivation was behind his regret.
Raiders coach Jon Gruden addressed the media at practice Friday and said that the team was happy to have Brown back and that he would be playing on Monday against the Denver Broncos.
Brown himself also addressed the media, explaining his apology and expressing his excitement to play for the Raiders.
