After a mass exodus of coaches at the bye week, the Raiders are adding some pedigree in the form of Norv Turner.

Reports emerged Tuesday that the Las Vegas Raiders would be bringing on the legendary coach as a senior advisor for the remainder of the 2024 NFL season. Additionally, Scott Turner, Norv’s son, will be the team’s interim offensive coordinator. The pair will work in tandem as they look to fit the Raider’s offensive struggles down the stretch. Joe Philbin is also joining the coaching staff as the interim offensive line coach.

NFL Network was first to report the news, with the Raiders making the moves official thereafter.

Norv Turner, 72, has been coaching in the NFL since 1991, leading serval different franchises in his time. Turner has been head coach of the Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders and most recently the San Diego Chargers. He has a record of 114-122-1 during his HC tenure. The North Carolina native has also served as offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and three other NFL teams. During his Oakland tenure, he was 9-23 as HC.

Turner will be tasked with lending a hand to Las Vegas’ offense, working alongside Scott to get the most out of the roster. The Raiders have struggled to maintain offensive consistency, down multiple scores late in games in recent weeks. While coach Antonio Pierce will ultimately have final say, the Turner family’s insertion into the coaching staff could give the team a different look for the rest of the season.

The Raiders fired OC Luke Getsy and two other coaches following Sunday’s 41-24 loss to thee Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9. Las Vegas has dropped to 2-7 as a result, currently on a five-game losing streak.
