We have all heard that saying about what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

The Raiders can’t use that phrase because they need to learn about what happened Sunday in Vegas with the Chicago Bears. The Raiders have to take that pain, the poor play, another slow start and learn from it so they can be much better as this season rolls along.

Conventional wisdom had a lot of things pointing in the Raiders favor with this matchup. The Bears were dead last in offense coming into the game and starting a rookie quarterback.

I felt if the Raiders scored in the high 20’s or low 30’s that Chicago just couldn’t match them. The thought was right the execution was not. The Raiders mustered just 9 total points against the Bears and dropped their second straight game. This time they lost 20-9 to the visiting Bears.

Chicago wasn’t that great in the game but they were definitely better than the Raiders. Another slow start for Las Vegas as they produced just 3 first quarter points.

The Raiders were hit by the penalty bug again and had quite a few critical drops by usually reliable receivers. Derek Carr wasn’t his dynamic self as he struggled to get to 20 yards passing and did not find the end zone all game. He also gave the ball back to the Bears one time with an interception.

The news that came out about Jon Gruden on Friday probably didn’t help the situation but the Raiders just got out played and deserved to lose. Starting (3-0) was great and gave them a little cushion for this mini slide but it has to stay mini.

The Raiders are back in action this Sunday and back in the division as they play in Mile High against the Broncos. We will see if they learned from Sunday’s poor performance and take those teaching points with them to Denver.
