Report: Athletics, OF Jake Smolinski Agree To One-Year Contract

The Oakland Athletics have agreed to a one-year contract extension with outfielder Jake Smolinski worth $775,000. The organization announced the news Wednesday afternoon.

Smolinski made is major league debut on July 7, 2014 for the Texas Rangers. He was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Athletics on June 21, 2015 and has been playing with the team since.
Smolinski missed almost the entire season following right shoulder surgery before returning to play in 16 games. According to Associated Press, the A’s are looking for corner outfielders.
The outfielder batted .259 in his short 2017 stint.
