The trade talks for Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton keep heating up.

According to Craig Mish of SiriusXM, the Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants have discussed a trade that would send Stanton along with IF Dee Gordon to the Bay Area in exchange for second baseman Joe Panik, pitching prospect Tyler Bede and outfielder prospect Chris Shaw.

Ken Rosenthal of the The Athletic added that “The Giants are willing to pick up a sizable amount of Stanton’s contract, one source said. Such a deal, however, would exacerbate the team’s luxury-tax concerns, likely resulting in the trade of at least one high-priced veteran, perhaps as part of a package going to the Marlins, perhaps to other clubs.”

The St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox were also in the mix and the Los Angeles Dodgers were expecting to make a push as well, per Jon Morosi of the MLB Network.

Stanton, a four-time All-Star, two-time NL home run leader and 2017 NL MVP, still has 10 years and $295 million left on his contract and an opt-out clause after 2020.
