Former Raiders first-round pick Henry Ruggs III will reportedly plead guilty in a drunk driving crash that killed one person.
According to reports from ESPN and the Associated Press, Ruggs told a judge Tuesday he plans to admit to driving drunk with speeds topping off at 156 mph, killing Tina Tintor back in 2021. Je’nai Kilgo-Washington, a passenger in Ruggs’ car, was also injured in the crash.
The Raiders released the wide receiver shortly after the crash happened.
As part of his plea deal, ESPN reports Ruggs “will plead guilty to one count of DUI resulting in death and one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.” Additional charges — DUI causing substantial harm to his passenger and two counts of reckless driving — were dropped as part of the deal.
His sentencing is scheduled for May 10 in Las Vegas.
At the time of the crash, then Raiders quarterback Derek Carr voiced his support for Ruggs, telling reporters, “I will always be here for him.”
