The Las Vegas Raiders are starting their offseason program without star running back Josh Jacobs.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Jacobs and Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram have not yet signed their team’s franchise tags.
The Raiders tagged Jacobs in early March. If Jacobs eventually signs the franchise tender, 2023 franchise tag for running backs is just over $10 million. According to ESPN, players who are tagged have until mid-July to reach a long-term deal with their respective teams.

They join Lamar Jackson and Saquon Barkley as franchise players expected to be absent as players return to work today.

Prior to the 2022 season, the Raiders declined to pick up the fifth-year option for the 24th pick in the 2019 draft.
Over the course of the 2022 season, Josh Jacobs rushed for 1,653 total yards, securing the NFL’s rushing title. Jacobs is only the second Raider to win the NFL’s rushing title. Raider legend and Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen led the league in rushing in 1985, his MVP season, with 1,759 yards.
At the NFL Honors ceremony earlier this year, Jacobs was named the inaugural winner of the Jim Brown Award, which honors players with the most rushing yards in a season. He was also honored with the NFL’s FedEx Ground Player of the Year award. Twice throughout the season, the Raiders running back was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. In one of those weeks, he set the Raiders’ single-game rushing record when he ran for 229 rushing yards against the Seattle Seahawks.
