According to Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is considering retiring from the NBA.
Following Monday night’s Game 4 loss to the Denver Nuggets that resulted in Los Angeles’ elimination from the Playoffs, James shared that he has “a lot to think about” concerning his future as a professional basketball player.
"Just for me personally going forward with the game of basketball, I got a lot to think about."

James scored 40 points, grabbed ten rebounds, and handed out nine assists during a narrow 113-111 loss to the Western Conference champion Nuggets in what could be the future Hall of Fame forward’s final game of his storied NBA career.
While James, 38, still has one season and a player option for the 2024-25 season remaining on his contract with the Lakers, the four-time MVP made it clear that he will take some time to contemplate his future this summer.
“I’m simply not sure if I’ll be back in the fall when the season begins,” James told Bleacher Report on Monday night. “I have a lot to think about.”
While James has previously said that his goal is to take the floor with his son, Bronny James–a four-star recruit that recently committed to play college basketball at USC in the fall–the 20-year veteran clarified that that goal is his, and might not be his son’s.
The news of James’ potential retirement comes the same day that fellow 2003 Draftee and close friend Carmelo Anthony announced his retirement from the NBA.
It will be an interesting offseason around the NBA for plenty of reasons, but the current face of the sport’s decision to continue playing might have skyrocketed to the top of the list of things to watch for in the coming months.
LeBron softened his stance about playing with Bronny in the NBA.
