The Last Vegas Raiders continue to make changes to its staff and roster, including promoting rookie Aidan O’Connell as the team’s starter.
According to Albert Breer, offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi is also out. McDaniels brought Lombardi with him from New England. Breer added that quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree is set to become the team’s interim offensive coordinator.
No news has been reported about defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Raiders are expected to name rookie O’Connell as their starter for this week’s matchup against the New York Giants. Jimmy Garoppolo, who the team signed this past offseason, is expected to back up the rookie.
In his lone start this season, Aidan O’Connell threw for 238 yards and one interception in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Raiders are the first team in the league to make drastic changes to their coaching staff. Linebackers coach Antonio Pierce has been named interim head coach and Champ Kelly has been named the interim general manager.
Hardegree and Pierce will task Aidan O’Connell with turning around an offense that is averaging just under 270 yards per game and nearly 16 points.
