Report: RB Matt Breida coming home to the 49ers

While one offensive player could be on the way out for the 49ers, the team is also bringing back a fan favorite in Matt Breida.
Reports emerged Monday evening that the San Francisco 49ers are signing the running back to a one-year deal. The player was brought in for a workout Monday, with a deal following after a good showing on the practice field. While SF certainly has a plethora of ballcarriers, adding a familiar face never hurts for coach Kyle Shanahan.

Matt Breida, 29, previously played for the 49ers from 2017 to 2019. In those three seasons, he amassed 1,902 rushing yards in 18 regular-season games. Breida also had six rushing scores in that timespan. Since then, he has featured for the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and New York Giants. The Georgia Southern alum has accumulated 3,587 all-purpose yards in his seven-year career.
Now entering Year 8 in the NFL, Brieda returns to Santa Clara, hoping for an extended run with the 49ers.
