We all assumed we knew why De’Aaron Fox was out for the two recent games, but nothing was made official until Monday night.

Before the Kings defeated the Rockets 140-120, Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee tweeted the baby announcement news, with the team retweeting the announcement.

De’Aaron Fox tells me Baby Reign was born here in Houston on Friday. That makes his birthday Feb. 3, 2023. Just missed sharing a Feb. 4 birthday with Malik Monk. “We got 2/3/23,” Fox said. “That’s fire.” Fox says Recee and the baby are good.

De’Aaron and Recee married last summer, with De’Aaron famously inviting Kings assistant coach Luke Loucks to their honeymoon in Italy.

In his return, Foxy scored 16 points, recorded eight assists, and swiped two steals. Following Monday night’s win, coach Mike Brown said the Sacramento Kings organization is extremely happy for De’Aaron and Recee.

“You can feel how excited, how proud he is to be a father,” Brown said in his postgame press conference. “Before Reign was born, whenever you’d talk about it, you’d just feel a different energy coming from him … They’re going to be terrific, terrific, terrific parents. Reign is a lucky little fella to have them as parents and we’re excited to death to welcome Foxy and Recee’s little son to our family.”

The seven-game road trip for Sacramento concludes Wednesday as they run it back against the Rockets at Toyota Center. Coverage on Sactown Sports 1140 begins at 3:30 p.m. PST on Game Night before action tips off at 5 p.m. PST.
