UPDATE: Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are set to face off on Thanksgiving weekend.
Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were paired together in the first two-rounds of the Players Championship.
Sports Illustrated reports, Mickelson suggested to Woods that they should skip the tournament stuff and play a “high stakes, winner-take-all match.
Golf.com reporter Alan Shipnuck reports that the two golfers are planning a head-to-head match for $10 million.
The $10M match almost happened on July 3 in Las Vegas.
Wood’s reps have not commented on the July 3 match, but Mickelson told Shipnuck:
“We’re working on a different date, I thought it was done for the 3rd but obviously it wasn’t.”
Both players combined have won 19 majors. Woods holds a record of 79 PGA Tour victories and Mickelson has 43.
“We’ll play for whatever makes him comfortable…”
