Update: After returning to practice this week, Deebo Samuel is indeed suiting up for Week 4.

The San Francisco 49ers announced their inactives for Week 4’s clash with the New England Patriots. Both Samuel and left tackle Trent Williams will play Sunday. Additionally, tight end George Kittle (hamstring) is officially active.

The only big absence is Talanoa Hufanga. The safety rolled his ankle during practice this week, and will be put on ice out of precaution. Hufanga returned Week 3 after a 10-month recovery from a torn ACL.

Orignial Story:

After making a surprise return to practice this week, Deebo Samuel appears sort to make his return to gameday gridiron this Sunday.

Reports emerged Saturday evening that San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver is expected to return fro Week 4 against the New England Patriots. Samuel made a surprise return to the 49ers’ practice field Thursday, less than two weeks after straining his calf. A pre-game workout will be the final determination for his game status Sunday.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the news Saturday night, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed thereafter.

Deebo Samuel, 28, has been out of action since suffering a calf strain Week 2 agianst the Minnesota Vikings. Occurring late in the contest, Samuel would be added to the injury report the following day, missing Week 3 due to the ailment. An injury that was suppose to keep him on the shelf for a few games, the playmaker has recovered faster than the team anticipated.

“The best athletes seem to heal at a little better rate,” 49ers general manager John Lynch said Friday on KNBR. “The reason he’s on the field is because he hit all the markers.”

The South Carolina native was able to practice in limited capacity both Thursday and Friday. He has been listed as questionable for Week 4 as a result. However, the player seems determined to make his return, telling Bay Area media Friday that he expects to play.
