After missing the last month and a half of the season, Andrew Wiggins is finally nearing a return to the Golden State Warriors.
Reports surfaced Monday that the former All-Star forward is expected to return to the Warriors early this week. Wiggins has missed the last 21 consecutive contests due to a family matter. While he may not feature in the final few games of the regular season, his return to the team is expected within the next 24 hours.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news Monday.

Despite being away from the team, Warriors coach Steve Kerr revealed that Wiggins has been working out on his own every day. But once he returns to the team, the medical and training staffs can fully assess where he is at at this time. Andrew Wiggins has missed a total of 41 games this season due to various injuries and ailments.
We’d love to have him and hope that that does happen, because we want to be whole and I’m sure he wants to be a part of this,” Stephen Curry said last week, via ESPN. “But when he walks in the door, it’ll be when it’s the right time for him. That’s kind of the expectation at this point.”
It was later revealed that Wiggins will attend the Warriors’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder Tuesday, via The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Additionally, Wiggins has been absent from the NBA since mid-February, as his father, Mitchell Wiggins, has been dealing with a serious medical issue.

Making his first All-Star appearance last season, Andrew Wiggins has been a valuable contributor for the Warriors the last few seasons. Only playing in 37 games this season, Wiggins has averaged 17.1 ppg and 5 rpg.
Golden State is currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 41-38.
