The 49ers have been dealing with a lot in their wide receiver room this training camp, now adding a proven pass-catcher in Robbie Chosen.
Reports emerged Thursday morning that the San Francisco 49ers would be signing the veteran wideout after a successful workout the day prior. While Chosen (formerly known as Robbie Anderson) has had a bumpy road in the NFL, his versatility and deep-threat ability is still a available asset for any NFL franchise.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was first with the news, as The Athletic’s Matt Barrows confirmed the deal thereafter.

Robbie Chosen, 31, is entering his ninth NFL season, having played for the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins. The University of Temple alum has amassed 5,082 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns on 379 catches. His best season came in 2020 with the Panthers, surpassing the 1,000-receiving mark on 95 receptions.
Now a few years removed from consistent production, Chosen will look to stand out with the 49ers during the preseason, hoping to make the 53-man roster.
“Blessed and thankful. Dream come true; more to become. This is an opportunity to be apart of greatness and go win a Super Bowl. There’s greatness all around me here, from what’s been done, what exists and will be the future,” he told CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson via text.
