After their first road trip of the 2024-25 NBA season, the Sacramento Kings own a 4-3 record. During their trip they won games against the Utah Jazz, Atlanta Hawks, and Miami Heat.

Their lone loss came in overtime on the second night of a back-to-back, which also happened to feature a nearly thirty-minute halftime honoring the jersey retirement of Toronto great Vince Carter against the Raptors.

In this episode of the Return of the Roar Sacramento Kings podcast, Brenden Nunes and Frankie Cartoscelli discussed the current state of the Kings since adding DeMar DeRozan, how Keegan Murray has been performing, and their volume from beyond three-point range in the latest episode.

Frankie and Brenden discussed Murray’s start to the season and why his defensive responsibility is an excusable offense for his offense production. Could the third-year forward take another step in his development this season? Yes.

But do the Kings also have unreasonable responsibility for the young player? Yes. Clearly, head coach Mike Brown is still trying to figure out his optimal night-to-night rotation.

It’s somewhat of a two-sided coin regarding that conversation, but the duo debated plenty more beyond that.

Should Keon Ellis be the starter when Kevin Huerter is unavailable? What’s the current state of the Pacific Division? All that and plenty more.
