Is a reunion between Jayden Daniels and Antonio Pierce in Las Vegas possible?

The two briefly spent time together at Arizona State, where Pierce was the recruiting coordinator and linebackers coach on Herm Edwards’s staff. Daniels spent three years as a Sun Devil before transferring in 2022 to LSU, where he would eventually win the Heisman Trophy in 2023.

Pierce had a hand in bringing Daniels to Arizona State, and the two met at last week’s NFL Scouting Combine.

“Obviously, going in there, I already knew Coach Antonio Pierce, but just overall, meeting the whole staff, meeting everybody else was great. Great energy, be able just to sit down and talk ball,” Daniels said about his meeting with the Raiders during the combine.

In his collegiate career, Daniels threw for 12,749 yards and 89 touchdowns while running for 3,307 yards and adding an additional 34 yards.

Reports surfaced earlier this offseason that the Raiders plan to cut quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. If and when that happens, that’ll leave the Silver & Black with second-year QB Aidan O’Connell and veteran Brian Hoyer. And at the combine, Pierce said he wants to add competition to the quarterback room.

“You don’t want to put a Band-Aid at that position,” Pierce said in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “That’s old, man. I think the Raiders, we’ve seen that enough in this organization.”

Does that mean the Raiders jump up in the NFL Draft for the next face of their franchise or will they go the free agency route?
