Rocklin’s Logan Webb announced as opening day starter for Giants

Logan Webb has been named the opening-day starter for the San Francisco Giants.
This will be Webb’s second year in a row as the opening-day pitcher for the Giants. He faces Gerrit Cole and the Yankees in New York on Thursday, March 30.
In 2022, the Rocklin native pitched a 2.9 ERA, got 163 strikeouts and finished with a 3.03 FIP. He finished with a 15-9 record.

At Giants’ FanFest earlier this year, Logan Webb said he’s still excited about this coming year despite the “weird” offseason the team had. After Aaron Judge decided to re-sign with the Yankees, San Francisco pivoted toward shortstop Carlos Correa. However, that deal fell apart as well, after medical concerns came up during Correa’s physical.
The team moved on, signing pitchers Ross Stripling and Sean Manaea and outfielders Michael Conforto and Mitch Haniger. The team also re-signed Joc Pederson.
