Sacramento Republic FC announce season, home opener dates

We now know when the Sacramento Republic FC returns to Heart Health Park.

The team announced Wednesday the dates and opponents for their season and home openers.

First, the Republic kick-off the 2023 season on Saturday, March 11 against the El Paso Locomotive FC. This is the sixth time in the team’s 10 year campaign they start their season on the road.

The team returns to Sacramento for its home opener on Saturday, March 18, to take on the Charleston Battery.

The complete 2023 schedule will be announced at a later time. The team announced in a press release that single-game tickets for the home opener and the remainder of the 2023 season will be available “in the coming weeks.”

On Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 14 and 15, Sacramento Republic FC will hold its annual open tryouts, for players to be evaluated by the team’s staff.

“At least one player from the Open Tryout will be invited to join the first team training camp in February for a chance to earn a professional contract,” the press release states. “Since the club’s inception, five players have signed professional contracts with the club, with a pair of players who would go on to represent Haiti and Montenegro in international competition.”
