The Athletic’s Sam Amick joined “The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross” on Thursday morning to talk about De’Aaron Fox’s ankle injury, attending the latest Kings vs Warriors matchup, giving his final thoughts on the James Harden trade, and more.
While the Kings were able to hold Steph Curry to just 21 points Wednesday, the other Splash Brother Klay Thomspon helped the Warriors deliver a late-game dagger and a 102-101 win. Fox sat out the one-point loss as he heals from a sprained ankle. Amick believes Wednesday night’s performance bodes well for the Kings if their star point guard has to miss several games.
“They balled out. Davion Mitchell has played well as a starter in the past when he’s filled in,” Amick said, adding Kevin Huerter’s nine rebounds were also impressive. “I think it bodes well for however long they play without De’Aaron. They should now go forward knowing you can stack up some W’s. I think they were 4-5 without him last season. And listen, in this West where it’s going to be brutal from the beginning to end they just cannot afford to go on some three, four, five-game losing streak with him out.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- How injuries will play into end-of-season award conversations.
- Are players, coaches excited about the NBA’s In-Season Tournament starting?
- What is happening with the Memphis Grizzlies so far this season?
- Does James Harden mesh well with the Los Angeles Clippers?
- The 76ers have finally moved on from James Harden. Where do they go next?
