The Athletic’s Sam Amick joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Thursday morning to talk about the ups and downs of the Golden State Warriors and the Western Conference this season, the Sacramento Kings’ potential playoff opponents and more.
“Every team that they [the Sacramento Kings] face is going to be very tough. They’re probably not going to be favored in any series,” Amick told Dave and Jason. “I think the Kings playoffs, they’re going to be maybe the toughest team to handicap of anybody in the West. Where the explosiveness and offense and the potency they have on that end, means that I one hundred percent believe that they can shock the rest of the NBA and win the first-round playoff series and get the thing done. But then you watch the Dallas Mavericks game, you get reminded, they are certainly guilty of trading buckets… and the defense will remain an issue.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- If the last two games matter when voting for end-of-year awards
- Thoughts on the NBA’s newly agreed upon collective bargaining agreement with players
- His latest column on the Golden State Warriors being “whole” again
- “I don’t know what the Warriors are going to do in the playoffs, but it did impress me and kind of strike me how everything they’ve been through this season…this organization has an incredible ability to navigate crisis.”
- How concerned should the Kings be if they face the Warriors in the postseason?
- Is what’s happening with the Warriors this season a natural byproduct of their dynasty coming to an end?
- How many awards can the Sacramento Kings expect to win at the end of the year?
