Bob Fitzgerald, the voice of both the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers, joined Whitey & Watkins to help preview Saturday’s second preseason game against the Denver Broncos.
Starting this year, the NFL changed how teams handle roster cuts. Instead of gradually reducing roster sizes by weeks at a time, now teams have until Tuesday, Aug. 29, to finalize their 53-man squad. So, who’s on the bubble for the Red & Gold?
“To me, Jalen Graham and [Dee] Winters, you’re not going to be able to sneak them through waivers, so that becomes an interesting one. What do they do with a T.Y. McGill and Austin Bryant and people on the D-line is interesting,” Fitzgerald said. “I think there’s a running back battle here… Is Jordan Mason or Tyrion Davis-Price ready to take over for Elijah Mitchell? That’s an interesting one.”
Additional topics discussed:
- How firm of a grip does Sam Darnold have on the backup quarterback position
- What position group has his attention the most outside of quarterback
- Is the second preseason game important to Jake “Money” Moody?
- There wasn’t a lot that went well against the Raiders last week, but what was the most concerning?
- Will Steve Wilks’ defense look different from DeMeco Ryans?
