With the 2023 NFL free agency starting to wind down, now feels like a good time to jump into the rest of the offseason. First up: The 49ers’ offseason schedule.
The San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to begin their 2023 offseason program on April 17th at the team’s headquarters in Santa Clara. While optional to attend until June, The Red & Gold expect near 100-percent involvement from players on the 90-man roster.
Known as “phase 1”, players can report to the team facility at that time. During the first two weeks of the offseason program, players can attend meeting and go through strength training and physical rehabilitation with the staff.

Organized team activities, or OTAs, can begin about a month later. Those practices will consist of 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills, but no live contact is permitted. The 49ers’ OTAs are set for May 22-23, May 25, May 30-May 31, June 2, June 5-6, June 8, according to the NFL.
Known as the second phase of the program, players will take part in three weeks of on-field work, but with no offensive-vs.-defense situations. The workouts must also be conducted at walk-through pace.
About a week later, the team’s mandatory minicamp will take place from June 13 to June 15. This signals the end of the offseason program, with the 49ers breaking before reporting back for training camp at the end of July.
During the final phase of the offseason program, the Red & Gold are allowed to go through non-padded practices with no contact. Teams are not allowed to wear pads or undergo live contact until the start of training camp.
All offseason practices are closed to the general public.
