The San Francisco 49ers won’t have to wait long to face off against former quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
That is, of course, if he’s available to play.
The two teams will hold joint practices before the 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders meet in the preseason on Sunday, Aug. 13.
According to NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco, the practices will take place on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 10 and 11. The first preseason game for both teams takes place in Las Vegas.

This offseason, Garoppolo reunited with head coach Josh McDaniels on a reported 3-year, $67.5 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. The two spent three and a half years together in New England before Garoppolo was shipped to San Francisco in 2017 mid-season trade.
During his time in San Francisco, he threw for 13,599 yards, 82 touchdowns, and appeared in three NFC Championship Games and Super Bowl LIV. His season — and ultimately his tenure in San Francisco — ended prematurely when he fractured his foot in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins.
According to a report from TheAthletic.com, the new Raiders quarterback had foot surgery earlier during the offseason, that’s why he has not been participating in OTA’s. McDaniels said Garoppolo could be out until training camp.
