San Francisco Giants Draft Reggie Crawford In First Round Of MLB Draft

The San Francisco Giants draft results from the first weekend of the MLB Draft can be summed up in one position, pitching.
Reggie Crawford was selected in the first round of the MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants.
With the last pick in the first round Sunday, the Giants selected the left-handed pitcher from the University of Connecticut. Crawford has missed his entire 2022 season for the UConn Huskies following Tommy John surgery.
With two seasons at UConn, the 21-year-old Crawford has a 2.35 ERA and a .309 batting average.
“He was selected to the USA Collegiate National Team roster and threw 4.0-scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with zero walks and eight strikeouts,” the press release reads.

By the end of the weekend, the San Francisco Giants drafted a second left-handed pitcher, Carson Whisenhunt. The 21-year-old from East Carolina boasts an ERA of 3.77 in his sophomore season.
The first two rounds of the MLB Draft took place over the weekend, with rounds 3-10 taking place Monday and concluding on Tuesday with rounds 11-20. The first two picks by the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks were the sons of former MLB players, Jackson Holliday and Druw Jones, the sons of Matt Holliday and Andruw Jones.
