Williams, 27, is entering his fifth season in the NFL, playing all four with the Chargers. He will likely play the X receiver on the opposite side of Antonio Brown. It was reported Tuesday night that the Raiders were out on the receiver but it appears that they have reverse course. Williams was also drawing interest from the Steelers, Browns, and Colts.
After going undrafted in 2015, Williams signed with the Chargers and was waived before signing with their practice squad. He played just four games his rookie season and finished with two receptions. 2016 is when Williams broke out, replacing an injured Keenan Allen as Phillip Rivers’ number one target. Williams finished the season with 69 receptions for 1,059 yards and seven touchdowns.
When Allen returned, Williams production dropped due to a lower amount of targets. In 2018, he finished with 41 receptions for 653 yards and five touchdowns on 65 targets.
