Sean Cunningham, sports reporter and producer for FOX40, joined Sactown Sports Wednesday to talk about the upcoming Sacramento Kings season and what their first home matchup against the Golden State Warriors will feel like.
On Tuesday, Carmichael Dave revealed the Kings will open up the 2023-24 season Wednesday, Oct. 25 in Utah before returning home to face the Golden State Warriors at Golden 1 Center on Friday, Oct. 27. The two teams met in the first round of the playoffs last season, with the series going seven games. Unfortunately, the Warriors were the team that moved on, ending the Kings’ Cinderella season.
“If you thought the playoffs were fun, this should be right in that realm,” Cunningham said. “You got this night little budding rivalry all of sudden, and it might be a little one-sided based on the dynasty that exists in Golden State, but that dynasty looks like it might have a shelf-life to it and it might be closer to the end than the beginning at this point. In Sacramento, you got this upswing team and the excitement should absolutely equal to that… It’s going to be really fun man. I’m looking forward to it and I’m excited for Kings fans.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- Is there any scenario where James Harden is a Sacramento King?
- Are the Kings ready to bring in a player of Harden’s caliber?
- Why Kings fans don’t need a reason to hate another team
- What are some storylines fans should follow heading into preseason
