On Saturday, April 21st, 26-year-old Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Sean Manaea no-hit the best team in baseball.

Today, Manaea has been named co-Player of the Week in the American League.

Nine innings. 10 strike outs. Two walks. Not a hit to be found. All against the Boston Red Sox who have been red-hot to start the season.

Manaea shares the AL Player of the Week honors with Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado, who batted .500 with five home runs and eight RBIs in six games.

The no-hitter is no fluke for Manaea, who has been off to a phenomenal start for Oakland this season. A 1.23 ERA with 30 strike outs and only 16 hits allowed in 36.2 innings. While not technically in the top spot of the rotation, Manaea has been the go-to guy on the mound for the A’s.

Before Saturday night, the Boston Red Sox had the second longest streak in the MLB, 3,987 games, without being no-hit. The team in the top spot; none other than the Oakland A’s, 4,243 straight games.
