Former NFL quarterback Sean Salisbury joined “The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross” Tuesday to talk about the 49ers taking down the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game.
San Francisco mounted a second-half comeback, putting up 27 unanswered points on their way to a 34-24 win and stamping their ticket to Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Cheifs. Sean told Dave and Jason that halftime adjustments matter, and executing those adjustments led to success for the 49ers and the downfall for the Lions.
“Everything went wrong in the first half for the 49ers, but that’s why we play 60 [minutes]. Everything went right, including decisions by coaches,” Salisbury said. “They say the Lions gave it away. Yeah, they helped, but you still have to go on the other end and execute the plays. The 49ers just outplayed them for 60 minutes and it took all 60. They were just better and in truth, the better team won.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- When did the term “game manager” become an insult to quarterbacks?
- Which legendary quarterbacks could be considered game managers?
- Dan Campbell’s decision-making in the second half
