The Athletic’s Tas Melas joined Deuce & Mo Tuesday to talk about the Sacramento Kings’ loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, what has surprised Tas this season and how the Kings can remain a contender in the postseason. Plus, was Giannis Antetokounmpo in the wrong at the end of the Kings and Bucks matchup Monday?

“I’m Team Giannis on this one,” Melas said on the show. “He’s allowed to dribble the basketball. Absolutely no way you can put this on Giannis Antetokounmpo shoulders, no chance. He’s allowed to go towards the sideline. That’s where I think he was going. Because at the end, he just wants to dribble out the clock. That’s what players do. They don’t dribble in the middle of the floor. Like he could have just stood there you’re right. He could have just high dribbled it, no one would have touched him. There would have been no scuffle whatsoever, but that’s what players do. They kind of go past the mid-court line and they kind of go to the corner and that’s where I think he was going. I don’t think he was trying to get under Trey Lyle’s skin.

Topics discussed include:

  • Why was Tas a Kings “hater” at the start of the regular season?
  • What is the ceiling of De’Aaron Fox going forward?
  • Why the Kings’ offense can outweigh the defensive woes
  • Tas defends Giannis Antetokounmpo’s decision to dribble the ball out in Kings-Bucks
  • Was Trey Lyle’s response warranted?
  • Who is the frontrunner in the NBA MVP race?
