Since his last fight in 2019, Sacramento’s Urijah Faber has focused more on his coaching and leading Team Alpha Male.
Last Friday, Faber’s A-1 Combat held an event at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, where young up-and-coming MMA fighters competed. Prior to the event, Faber spoke to Sactown Sports about the promotion and the sports world becoming bigger in Sacramento.
Topics discussed include:
- If A-1 Combat is like a feeder league to the UFC and other big MMA promotions
- How A-1 Combat’s next event at Tachi Palace holds a lot of MMA history for Faber and Nate Diaz
- Bragging about Sacramento, not just with sports, but as a community
- “It’s a place that cares about its people. It’s exciting to root for things in the community.”
- How Team Alpha Male has sustained success for nearly two decades
- What he’s learned as a promoter
