Sacramento Republic’s Danny Vitiello voted Week 12 Save of the Week

The Indomitable Club strikes again, with their star man in goal, Danny Vitiello, earning more individual honors to close out the work week.

The USL Championship announced Friday that the Sacramento Republic FC goalkeeper has been earned the Week 12 Save of the Week. Vitiello was awarded the honor thanks to a 58th-minute save keep Sacramento level with Birmingham Legion FC on May 25th.

This is the third time this season the Quails’ keeper has been voted by the fans for save of the week, and the fifth time since joining Sacramento Republic. Danny Vitiello won the award consecutively for his efforts Weeks 4 and 5.

The 58th-minute save by Vitiello kept Republic level with the visitors, albeit thanks to a miraculous save. Birmingham put a dangerous ball into the six-yard box, with a strong strike following thereafter. But thanks to a quick reaction, Vitiello was able to secure the ball before it crossed the goal-line. Republic FC would go on to record its’ fifth clean sheet of the season, tied for the most in the Western Conference.

The Sacramento Republic have been indomitable this year, remaining unbeaten through the first quarter of the 2024 season. The Quails are currently in second place in the USL Championship Western Conference standings, with a record of 5-6-0.

SRFC is back in action this Saturday, facing off with Tampa Bay Rowdies on Pride Night at Heart Health Park. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m, and will be broadcast live in English and Spanish on FOX40 and Antenna TV 40.2, as well as streaming on FOX40.com, the FOX40 News mobile app, and ESPN+.
