It only took two batters for Yankees manager Aaron Boone to get tossed Monday in the first game of a four-game series against the A’s. And it apparently wasn’t even because of something he said.
After calling a ball on a pitch that was outside the strike zone, home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt can be heard yelling in the direction of New York’s manager that “he’s doing what he’s supposed to do.”
Mics did not pick up what was said before or after from the Yankees dugout, but Wendelstedt warned Boone that if he’s got anything else to say, then “you’re gone.”
A moment later, Wendelstedt tossed Boone.
“I don’t care who said it. You’re gone,” Wendelstedt yelled in the direction of the Yankees dugout.

Aaron Boone tried to point to the seats behind their dugout, yelling at Wendelstedt that he didn’t say anything, but the home plate umpire wasn’t hearing it.
This was Boone’s second ejection of the 2024 MLB season.
