It wouldn’t be the NFL offseason in San Francisco without a few first pitches, as Brock Purdy took the mound at Oracle Park Tuesday night.

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback threw out the first pitch at San Francisco Giants home game against the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday. Purdy strolled onto the field to a standing ovation from the Bay Area crowd, getting to soak in the admiration that he has earned the last two seasons. And when it was time to step up to the mound, he delivered some high heat.

Take a look:

The precision-based gunslinger was a little high on the pitch, with Giants pitcher Kyle Harrison unable to haul it in with his glove at home plate. However, the pitch was on target, at least being near the strikezone to a degree.

But by the look of Purdy’s face, he probably wants a second crack at the throw.

The 49ers’ QB is the third member of the Red & Gold to throw out a first pitch this offseason, with Fred Warner and Deebo Samuel doing so in April. The former’s pitch was highly discussed after he threw the ball in the dirt, allowing social media to have a field day.

Unlike Warner, Brock Purdy didn’t want to suffer the same fate, having a few practice pitches beforehand.

Of course, it only makes sense that Purdy would be prepared, already tasked with manning a Super-Bowl contender in SF. Regardless, the QB seemed to be in good spirits as he signed various fan memorabilia afterwards.

That was one of the few bright spots of the evening sadly, with the Giants dropping to their rivals, 10-2.

Key offseason dates for the San Francisco 49ers

  • May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31–OTAs
  • June 4-6 Mandatory Minicamp
