Erik Karlsson gave the San Jose Sharks a 2-1 series lead with his game-winning goal at 5:23 in overtime.

The goal came with some controversy as it appeared that Timo Meier committed a hand pass, which should have negated the goal. The pass found an open Gustav Nyquist who found Karlsson for the winning goal.

Despite an argument from several Blues’ players, hand passes are a non-reviewable play, giving the Sharks the win.

The overtime goal would have never happened without some late-game heroics from none other than Logan Couture. Couture scored the game-tying goal at 18:59 in the third period to force the overtime period.

The goal was Couture’s 14th of the postseason, tying the Sharks record for most goals in a postseason held by Joe Pavelski in 2016.
