And then there were two.

On Sunday, both the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros stamped their tickets to the World Series, defeating the San Diego Padres and New York Yankees, respectively.

The Phillies ended their season with an 87-75 record, earning them a Wild Card spot on the National League side of the playoffs. They first swept the St. Louis Cardinals, then defeated the defending champion Atlanta Braves 3-1. They were then able to upset the favorites, beating the Padres 4-1.

Houston had a first-round bye in the American League side of the playoffs. They then went on to sweep the fan-favorite Seattle Mariners and the Yankees.
