The San Francisco 49ers are looking to make a statement against the Miami Dolphins this weekend, and they’ll need the help of wide receiver Deebo Samuel to do it.
The offensive playmaker was spotted out on the practice field Friday after missing Thursday’s session with a quad contusion. Not being listed on the injury report after Week 12 Monday, Samuel was limited Wednesday before missing Thursday’s session.
Reports initially indicated that Deebo Samuel would miss the team’s walkthrough Friday, instead coming out of the weight room and joining his team on the field.

Deebo suffered a quad contusion in Week 12’s win over the New Orleans Saints. Samuel took a big hit in the endzone during the contest, leaving the 49ers’ pass-catcher on the ground for a few minutes, eventually walking off the field under his own power. He was able to return to the field and finish the game.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan didn’t have a lot of optimism about the player’s availability for this weekend, however, needing to see “something” from Samuel today if he was to sit up for Week 13.
“He’s trying to get healthy,” Shanahan said Friday morning on KNBR. “His thigh has been bothering him and it hasn’t loosened up the way we want it to. He’s got to do something today to give him a chance to be a game-time decision.”
While he’s likely to only get limited reps Friday, an appearance is still a good sign, setting up Sunday as a true game-time decision for Samuel.
Meanwhile, left tackle Trent Williams departed the practice field early Friday with what the team says is a back issue.
