It must be Wrestlemania season. Roman Reigns getting “arrested” on RAW, John Cena calling out The Undertaker, and now, announced today by the WWE, former champion and current SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan has been medically cleared to wrestle again.
It has been three years since Bryan last wrestled inside a WWE ring. At age 36, Bryan had his career cut short by a consistent suffering of concussions because of his high-risk style. He announced his official retirement back in February of 2016.
Since then, while staying with the WWE as SmackDown’s General Manager, Bryan has been medically cleared to wrestle by multiple, outside-the-company neurosurgeons and concussion experts. However, before recently, WWE was hesitant to allow one of their most popular superstars of all-time back into the ring because of his frequent issues.
Saying goodbye to the ring was one of the hardest moments of my life. But thanks to the amazing people supporting me, I was able to keep fighting for my dream. This moment feels surreal and I'm glad to be able to talk to you all at the beginning of #SDLive tonight.

Over the past few months, the storyline on SmackDown suggested a possible return to the ring for Wrestlemania, with tensions growing between Bryan and SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon.
Wrestlemania 34 is just weeks away, and we can only hope that Bryan makes his in-ring return on Sunday, April 8th in New Orleans.
