Already without wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring), the San Francisco 49ers are also without WR Jauan Jennings (hamstring) and cornerback Jason Verrett (knee) for Week 8’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
Jennings has been dealing with a hamstring issue sustained in Week 7’s loss to the Kansa City Chiefs. He practiced in limited fashion both Thursday and Friday, getting work in off to the side of the practice field.
Verrett was activated off the PUP list Wednesday, recovering from an ACL tear sustained Week 1 of the 2021 season. Working in a limited fashion all week, Shanahan noted that the 49ers could work the cover-man into the team gradually earlier this week.
“If we feel good about Verrett, whether he’s out there starting or whether he’s out there getting 10 to 15 plays, I think that’s something that would help our team,” Shanahan said Friday.
However, he will not make his debut in Week 8, San Francisco instead deciding to hold him out until after the team’s bye in Week 9.
To me, Jason Verrett was an expected inactive all along. Didn't see the 49ers debuting him on artificial turf. Against former team (Chargers) after the bye week on natural grass has always seemed likely

The 49ers promoted Willie Snead IV and activated Tay Martin from the team’s practice squad to provide additional depth at the wideout position.
