The San Francisco 49ers became the first team in the NFL to clinch a playoff berth, thanks to an assist from the New York Giants.
Heading into Week 14, the Red & Gold first needed a win over the Seattle Seahawks, which they accomplished Sunday.

Then they needed either the Minnesota Vikings or Green Bay Packers to lose. The Vikings held off the Las Vegas Raiders, squeaking by with a 3-0 victory Sunday.
So the 49ers had to wait until Monday night to see if they’d become the first team with a playoff berth. And it would take the whole game to learn their fate, as New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito helped set up the game-winning field goal, and a 24-22 win over the Packers.
San Francisco currently holds the number one seed in the NFC’s playoff picture.
The 49ers announced on social media that tickets for a potential home playoff game will go on sale to the general public at 1 p.m. PST, Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Clinchmas came early.
Tickets for a potential home playoff game will go on sale to the general public tomorrow 12/12 at 1 PM PT.
