No. 11 UC Davis football earned selections inside the top three in both preseason Big Sky polls with the Aggies picked to finish second in the Coaches Poll and third in the Media Poll as announced today by the conference ahead of the Big Sky Kickoff Weekend.

The Aggies are coming off a historic season where they racked up 11 wins overall and seven Big Sky wins to finish second in the conference and No. 5 in the nation. UC Davis made a deep run into the NCAA FCS Playoffs, reaching the quarterfinals after collecting a playoff win over Illinois State.

UC Davis football earned first-place votes in both polls, and they were picked just behind Montana for second place in the Media Poll.

2024 Eddie Robinson finalist head coach Tim Plough, along with STATS Perform Preseason All-American Rex Connors and returning Big Sky All-Conference honoree Samuel Gbatu, Jr., will all make the trip this weekend, July 18-21, to Spokane, Washington, to take part in the Big Sky Kickoff Weekend. All three Aggies will be featured live on ESPN+ on Monday, July 21, starting with coach Plough at 10:15 a.m.

The Aggies kick 2025 off with a Week 0 matchup against No. 12 Mercer in Montgomery, Alabama, on Aug. 23 when they take part in the FCS Kickoff Classic. UC Davis Health Stadium opens on Sept. 20 when Southern Utah visits Davis, and the first Big Sky game is set for Sept. 27 with a visit to UC Davis Health Stadium by Weber State.
